Air Force Times (AP) As many as 80,000 airmen are now eligible to join the military through the newly created Veterans’ Service Employment Program.
Air Force officials say that’s a significant increase from just two years ago.
The Air Force also says it will expand the program to include reservists, which are expected to make up more than half of the new enlistments.
The VSO program, which began in June, allows anyone who meets the requirements to apply for jobs with the Air Force.
It is available to airmen who have served for at least a year or more.
The military also plans to increase the number of jobs available through the program by about 1,000 each year.
The new VSO pilot program is designed to help more airmen find employment, including by giving them access to more job postings.
