Momondo is to open a new retail outlet in London later this year, a move that is part of a broader strategy to expand its presence in the UK.
The company is investing $3.5 million in its new London headquarters, which is scheduled to open this spring.
Momondo, founded in 2006, is one of the world’s most popular retailers, with more than 10 million units sold, according to the company.
It has also been a leader in the mobile payment space, which it co-founded in 2012.
As part of its expansion plans, the company will hire more than 200 new staff and will create more than 40 jobs.
The company also plans to create 100 new jobs in the London market and more than 100 jobs in India.
Its parent company, New York-based Amazon, is also planning to open its first store in the country.
More about Momondo: The retailer said it is committed to the London economy, and that its expansion plan is part and parcel of its strategy to grow its global footprint.
This is Momondo’s first expansion and expansion of an existing location, and we’re excited to welcome the UK market to our family of brands, said Robyn Fisher, director of global retail for Momondo.
In addition to expanding its retail footprint in London, Momondo has plans to expand in the U.K. and elsewhere.
“Momondo has a strong footprint in the United Kingdom and we look forward to partnering with our local partners to build on that,” Fisher said in a statement.
India is Momonde’s third major market outside of the U-K., after its U.S. and Canada operations.
